Six-time World Rallycross Champion and winner of three consecutive FIA World RX events at Lohéac, Johan Kristoffersson will be taking advantage of the 2024 edition of the legendary Brittany venue to try and add another success to his exceptional record of achievements.
After claiming a double success at the opening round of the 2024 FIA World Championship in Holjes, Johan Kristoffersson will be lining up his brand new VW Polo 'KMS 601' on the Lohéac racetrack from August 30 to September 1.
It's a more than logical decision in the eyes of the man who will be aiming to become the equal of Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton by clinching a possible seventh FIA world title at the end of the year.
"Why did we decide to add Lohéac to our schedule? Quite simply because the enthusiasm for rallycross is generally strong in France, and I have very good memories of my numerous visits to Lohéac," points out Johan Kristoffersson.
"Lohéac is an interesting track on which you have to be able to set the pace, but the most important thing for me is of course the atmosphere that surrounds the event with all the fans and spectators. It's really this perspective that motivated me to come back and race in France."
Johan Kristoffersson, who won three consecutive races in Brittany between 2016 and 2018, had a real nightmare during his return to Lohéac in 2021.
Winner of the intermediate classification thanks to two fastest times and two second places in qualifications, a mechanical problem at the end of the semi-finals prevented him from arriving on time at the pre-grid for the final.
The Swede with 42 victories and 57 podiums in the World Rallycross Championship will naturally be keen to rectify the situation.
"I'm coming back with the desire to win this race. I can't hide the fact that I've missed this event since 2021 because it's something so special. It's so nice to be on the grid when you know that there's a full arena of fans there to enjoy the show. Even though we're always focused on performance when we're in the paddock and we don't necessarily have as much time as we'd like to give to the audience, it's so enjoyable to meet all these passionate spectators. Young and old alike, I always enjoy exchanging a few words with this fabulous public."
"Above all, I want to rediscover that special atmosphere. I remember those long queues at the entrance to the circuit every morning. Same feeling on the pre-grid where there's always a huge crowd behind the barriers. Lohéac really is a special event in the world of Rallycross. I've missed this experience because the fans share the same passion that we have for motorsport and Rallycross in particular."
