Lohéac 2016: How Petter Solberg saved his title defence after the Trois-Rivières crash

On 7 August 2016, Petter Solberg had only just regained the lead of the World Rallycross Championship. Just seconds after crossing the finish line in the Trois-Rivières Final, the Norwegian was violently hit by Anton Marklund’s Volkswagen Polo. Taken to hospital while his Citroën DS3 was left heavily damaged, the two-time defending World Champion suddenly found his bid for a third consecutive crown thrown into uncertainty.
